Wanda Wright, originally from the Midwest, has lived in Portland
for thirty years.
She has been passionate about art since childhood and three years ago
left a career in business to seriously pursue painting and other visual arts.
Through private
shows and
word of mouth her work has quietly become favorites of private
collectors in London, Chicago, New York and Tacoma.
She works primarily in oil but has completed a range of work in acrylics,
watercolor and pastel as well. She derives inspiration from the expressive
methods of
Romare Bearden and Jacob Lawrence. Her current preferred style gravitates
toward abstraction and emphasizes the use of bold colors with intense contrasts.
